Burning Man
Burning Man is an annual festival that takes place over 8 days on a dry lake bed in the Nevada desert. It ends on Labor Day with the burning of a huge wooden man. In 2008 the man was 84 feet high and almost 50,000 people participated. The majority are repeat travelers who come for the amazing experience and freedom.
The concept is to create an event where there are no spectators, only participants. You put on your show for others, and you can enjoy theirs. If you’re just coming to see naked people, don’t come. Burning Man is all about being part of the experience and contributing to making it better for everyone. It’s a temporary community based on radical self expression and self-reliance, and it’s all about freedom and imagination so outrageous costumes and nudity are not only allowed, but expected.
Theme camps provide entertainment and diversity. You’re free to wander and participate at any of them, wearing something, very little, or totally naked. The names of some of the theme camps gives some insight to what you might expect. Some of our favorites include 7 Sins Lounge, Above the Limit, Androids Dungeon, Audrey’s Jungle Love, Barbie Death Camp and Wine Bistro and the Bunnies Bondage Puppet Porn Show Camp. There are hundreds more. Each worth visiting.
Public nudity is common. The weather is hot, the setting is dusty and clothes are unnecessary. Many camps offer special services for nude customers including showers, temporary tattoos, nude massages or special naked recreation events like Naked Slip ‘n Slide, Nude Zip Line Rides across the desert. There are also naked bike rides for Nude Women (the Critical Tits ride) and for Naked Men (the Critical Dicks Ride).
Another popular nude event is to chase the water truck which makes periodic rounds to settle the dust. Spraying out thousands of gallons of water, you can get a shower and some good nude exercise jogging behind the truck as it makes it’s rounds through the camp.
Although you can be naked anytime, anywhere, you do need to plan well. You need to bring everything you’ll need, and take it all out again. There are excellent tips online to prepare for your first burning man online, including the main site of www.burningman.com.
