NUDE VOLLEYBALL
Is there an official sport of nude recreation? We don’t think so, but if there was one, it should be volleyball. Naked volleyball is played on nude beaches, found at virtually every nudist campground and resort, and a quick game of naked volleyball has been popular fun at college campuses and gyms for years. Add a pool and anet, and you’ve got the start of a nude water volleyball game.
GETTING STARTED
Anyone that can stand up and hit a ball can play. Just get out of your clothes and into the fun. We’ve seen games with young and old, men and women, fit and not-so-fit and everything in between. You’ll also need a ball and a net – but most places to play provide those, or the regulars bring them. That’s it. Simple and fun.
WHERE TO PLAY
In Southern California, both San Onofre and Black’s Beach have regular games of naked volleyball and a dedicated group of regulars. They have professional caliber nets, well marked boundaries and a friendly attitude. If you want to play, come down to the courts, wait till a break between game s and introduce yourself. Women are almost always welcome to join. Guys who are there to play volleyball are also welcome. Guys who show up just to watch will usually be told to leave.
In summer, there may be multiple courts in action, and teams challenging other teams. Get there early and get on a team. IN winter, when crowds are smaller, anyone interested in playing can get on the courts.
Nudist resorts and campgrounds like Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Glen Eden Nudist Campground and DeAnza Springs nude resort all offer naked outdoor volleyball courts. At Desert Sun you can choose to play nude volleyball on grass or a concrete court. They also have a great pool designed for naked water volleyball and there are friendly and fun games going almost every weekend. Glen Eden offers sand courts, and even a heated indoor pool where nude water volleyball can be played all year long, even on rainy days.
Lupin Lodge near San Francisco holds seven weekend volleyball tournaments, usually the third weekend of the month from April until October. They invite experienced players to get together for competitive nude fun in the sun. And also encourage non-member players and teams to participate and are offered discounted admiss ion and camping rates.
If you’re ready to travel, Oasis Naturist Resort in France and La Chiappa Nudist Village on the island of Corsica each have multiple courts and frequent tournaments. At La Chiappa, the competition can be intense with hundreds of naked volleyball players in intense competition, with the warm waters of the ocean just a few steps away for a quick nude swim between games.
WHAT YOU NEED
The object is to play naked, so you don’t need much. If you’re playing outside, you may want a hat or visor and of course lot of sunscreen. Some women like to wear a sports bra instead of playing topless. Sand Courts can get very hot in the summer. The best players bring sand socks, designed specifically for playing on hot sand. If you’re playing on concrete you’ll need some tennis shoes. Normally we hate seeing people totally naked except for tennis shoes, but this is one of the few times it’s OK. If you’re playing naked water volleyball, you don’t need anything. You’re going to get totally wet as you make naked dives for the ball, so jump in and have fun.
GROUPS & TOURNAMENTS
Naked Volleyball is a Southern California based group that promotes playing nude volleyball and arranges a number of trips and tournaments to naturist resorts and nude beaches. Many nudist resorts also offer naked volleyball tournaments, typically over a long weekend.
